Capturing the Sweetest Beginnings: Why Newborn photography is so special

Bringing a new baby into the world is a life-changing experience — one filled with love, awe, and a whole lot of precious moments that pass by far too quickly. As a photographer, I feel incredibly honored to help families preserve these fleeting memories through newborn photography.

Why Newborn Photography Matters

In those early days, life feels like a beautiful blur — sleepless nights, endless snuggles, and a love so strong it’s hard to put into words. That’s why capturing these moments is so important. Newborn photos freeze this tender season in time — the tiny fingers, the wrinkled toes, and those sweet sleepy smiles.

But to me, newborn photography is about more than just adorable poses — it’s about telling your family’s story.

A Session Filled with Love and Connection

During this recent session, I had the privilege of photographing a sweet family as they welcomed their newest little love. What touched me most wasn’t just the tiny details — though those were precious — but the heartfelt connections unfolding in front of my camera.

Mom’s gentle touch as she cradled her baby. Dad’s soft smile as he admired his growing family. The family dog loyally watching over their newest member. These moments — these memories — are what make newborn photography so powerful.

More Than a Photographer — A Storyteller

As a mom myself, I know firsthand how meaningful these memories become. The little moments — the ones that seem so ordinary — often turn out to be the most extraordinary. That’s why I approach every session with care, patience, and the understanding that these photos will become treasured keepsakes for years to come.

Because one day, when that tiny baby is suddenly all grown up, these images will bring you right back — to the warmth, the love, and the beginning of your beautiful story together.

Thinking About Booking a Newborn Session?

If you’re expecting or recently welcomed a little one, I’d be honored to capture this precious season for you. Whether it’s in the comfort of your home or outdoors with your family, I’ll work to create images that feel natural, warm, and full of love — because these are the moments you’ll want to hold onto forever.

Let’s capture the memories you’ll never want to forget.

I can’t wait to tell your story.

Love isn't built in the grand moments —
it’s stitched quietly into the spaces in between.
A glance across a crowded room.
A hand reaching for another without hesitation.
A silent promise spoken without words.

Today wasn’t just a ceremony.
It was a weaving together of two souls, choosing to be each other's steady place,
in a world that is always spinning. 🤍

A beginning marked by tears, laughter, and a thousand tiny, holy moments we almost forget to notice — but never truly lose.

(And because no day is complete without a little laughter...
peep the last photo for a pick me up 😉)

You may have noticed a shift in my work lately.

For a long time, I leaned into a warm, vintage style... it felt comforting, like a soft memory frozen in time. It was a reflection of the season I was in then: tender, nostalgic, full of depth.

But as life has grown and changed, so has my art.
Lately, my work feels a little more vibrant. Still warm, but with a touch more light. A little more true-to-life. A reflection of a season that feels grounded and full of new beginnings.

This shift isn’t about better or worse, it’s about alignment.
Creating art in a way that mirrors where I am now.

This season feels vibrant. Rooted. Blooming.
And I hope that when you see your images, they feel the same way.

Senior sessions should feel like you.

This one brought together grit, passion, and a personal story—right on the field where he's spent so much time growing and putting in the work. From the dugout to a sharp blazer and glove in hand, every image reflects both where he's been and where he’s headed.

That’s what I love about senior photos—they don’t have to be stiff or overly posed. They can be meaningful, personal, and true to who you are right now.

Class of 2025—if you're ready to tell your story, I’m still booking spring senior sessions!

Let’s make it yours.

Today wasn’t just a ceremony.
It was a weaving together of two souls, choosing to be each other's steady place,
in a world that is always spinning. 🤍

A beginning marked by tears, laughter, and a thousand tiny, holy moments we almost forget to notice — but never truly lose.

(And because no day is complete without a little laughter...
peep the last photo for a pick me up 😉)
Love isn't built in the grand moments —
it’s stitched quietly into the spaces in between.
A glance across a crowded room.
A hand reaching for another without hesitation.
A silent promise spoken without words.

You may have noticed a shift in my work lately.

What it is to be a mother…

It’s not just about biology.
It’s not just about birthing children.

It’s about showing up—day after day, in love and in exhaustion.
It’s wiping tears (theirs and sometimes your own), packing snacks, remembering appointments, whispering prayers at midnight, and finding strength you didn’t know you had.

It’s learning to hold space for tiny hearts, while still making room for your own dreams.
It’s guiding, comforting, teaching, and letting go—all at once.
It’s bearing witness to growth, to struggle, to joy, and calling it sacred.

I’m a mother in the most traditional sense—I carried and birthed two beautiful souls and gained another from marriage. But I’ve learned that motherhood expands far beyond that.
It’s in every heart that chooses to nurture, protect, encourage, and love with intention.
Biological, adoptive, step, foster, spiritual, chosen—mothers of all kinds make the world softer and stronger.

To every woman showing up in the name of love—you are a mother.
And the work you do is holy, even when no one sees it.

Happy Mother’s Day.
You are enough. You are seen. You are cherished.

Why Capturing Baby Showers Matters (More Than You Think)

When you think of a baby shower, you might picture balloons, sweet treats, and gifts wrapped with pastel ribbons. But what’s happening beneath all of that is something so much bigger: it’s a gathering of love, hope, and community around a brand-new life that’s about to change everything.

And that’s why photographing baby showers isn’t just about snapping pictures of the decorations or the gifts. It’s about capturing something intangible — the waiting, the wonder, the welcoming.

It’s the way a mother-to-be smiles as she opens a tiny onesie and realizes just how close she is to holding her child in her arms.
It’s the way grandparents beam with pride, friends laugh and cry over memories, and every hug carries the weight of shared history and the hope of what’s to come.
It’s the nervous excitement, the quiet prayers, the whispered advice passed down from one generation to the next.

Photographing these moments means freezing the emotions you can feel in the room but might not notice in the rush of the day — the teary glances, the steady hands resting on a growing belly, the inside jokes, the silent promises.

Because someday, that baby will grow up. And long after the decorations are taken down and the gifts are used or outgrown, the images will remain.
Proof of how deeply they were loved before they even took their first breath.
Proof that family isn’t just blood—it’s the people who show up to celebrate the unseen, the in-between, the almost here.

I approach baby showers the same way I approach every session: with care, with intention, and with the understanding that what’s happening is sacred. I’m not just documenting an event — I’m telling the story of a community preparing to welcome a new life.

And that’s a story worth telling beautifully.
